
Mie White is a versatile freelance engineer with an extensive background in classical engineering and production based in New York City. Mie has worked as an audio engineer at the Manhattan School of Music. Previously, she worked at Swan Studio under Andreas Meyer, where she worked on several recordings released on the Sony Masterworks and Sony Japan labels, among others. Mie holds a master’s degree in violin performance from McGill University, as well as a Master’s of Music in Sound Recording, also from McGill. Her professional experience has brought her behind the console for chamber performances, orchestra concerts, and full opera productions as well as jazz ensembles and pop/indie sessions. She has worked at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, as well as with many artists and ensembles such as the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, The Thirteen, Manhattan School of Music Symphony Orchestra, American String Quartet, Muir Quartet, Cramer Quartet, The New York Choral Society, McGill Symphony Orchestra, Joshua Bell, Leonard Slatkin, Ingrid Jensen, and David Chan among others. Recently, Mie worked on the New Jersey Symphony’s Emmy Award winning concert release: Art Is Essential. She also engineered and produced Opera McGill’s production of The Old Maid and the Thief, a radio opera that was broadcast on CBC Radio in Fall 2020.
Mie is a winner of the Silver Award in Traditional Acoustic Recording in the international Audio Engineering Society Recording Competition in New York 2020. She is also a recipient of the Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation grant and the Bruce Swedien honorarium in 2020. Mie worked as a webcast technician under George Massenburg at McGill University.
